COMING SOON: PRINCE2® 7
- Date: August 23, 2023
PRINCE2® has a storied heritage spanning over 30 years, 200 countries, and is universally applicable to any industry or type of project, irrespective of size or complexity. Building on this robust foundation and industry-wide recognition, the PRINCE2® 7 method brings a renewed focus on the flexibility and adaptability required for today's fast-paced, digital-centric project environments.
What is happening?
Global Knowledge plans support for this exciting program update and credential in all regions with the release of the following courses in the coming weeks:
- PRINCE2® 7 Foundation | 3 Days
- PRINCE2® 7 Practitioner | 2 Days
- PRINCE2® 7 Foundation + Practitioner | 5 Days
When is it coming?
PeopleCert has not yet released the content or exams to their accredited partner network, but our new course offerings will begin to populate our global website and session schedules in late August and early September, with first delivery dates targeted for late-September through early October, depending on the region. Private on-site and virtual classes will be available within the same timeframe.
More information regarding the certification pathways, recertification, and transition from the 6th edition is also planned and be available on our website and from your account teams in the coming weeks.
Why is this update important?
Even with millions of project managers in the workforce today, many of whom hold notable industry certifications or have completed formal training, the average global failure rate of projects has remained between 50%-65% over the last decade.
Project failure is not due to a lack of skills as much as it is influenced by a lack of formal structure in the project itself. Every project initiated without a proven operational method is at disadvantage from the very start.
PRINCE2® 7 takes the core and valued elements of Prince2 – the seven Principles, Processes, and Practices - and wraps them around the most crucial component that has been missing from the guidance – the People. With the addition of communication and leadership concepts to the method, version 7 provides a clearly defined structure for organizing, managing, and controlling projects in a defined set of repeatable, scalable, and flexible steps.
An independent study done by BCS of over 350 projects of varying sizes and complexity found that those that adhered to the PRINCE2 method showed a success rate of 78%. Organizations that combine a proven framework with skilled project managers (skills gained through a notable Body of Knowledge, like PMI’s Project Management Professional certification) will have the greatest probability of achieving project success.
