Important change to the VMware recertification programme
- Date: 07 February, 2019
As of 5th February 2019, you can choose when to renew your VMware certification. VMware no longer requires you to renew your certification every 2 years to keep that certification valid.
Please note: This change only applies to the VCP (VMware Certified Professional) certifications; which are the only VMware certifications where a 2-year obligation to re-certify existed.
Why the change to the VMware recertification programme?
The main reason for the change is that VMware wants their certifications to fit your needs. Many candidates renew their certification every 2 years, which coincides with their VMware environment upgrading to a newer version. Others however, are still using older VMware products and do not need the knowledge and skills of the new VMware products.
Although VMware recognizes the importance of keeping skills and certifications up-to-date, they want to offer you the flexibility to recertify and gain the relevant knowledge as and when it fits the needs of you and your organization.
