Accelerate Your Path to Cisco Routing and Switching Certification
- Date: 31 January, 2019

The CCNA Routing and Switching Boot Camp (CCNABC/CCNAX) combines ICND1 and ICND2
The CCNA Routing and Switching Boot Camp (CCNABC/CCNAX) is a great option for obtaining the skills required for the Cisco CCNA Routing and Switching certification. But be aware—it is an intense, extended-hours experience. There is a lot of content to cover so students should expect extended hours and evening reading.
The CCNABC/CCNAX Boot Camp is not right for everyone
There are two approaches for acquiring the basic Cisco networking skills required for the Cisco Certified Network Associate Certification for Routing and Switching. Whilst the CCNABC/CCNAX Boot Camp is an intense, accelerated path to certification, the traditional path, of separate ICND1 and ICND2 classes, offers students a slower pace and more time to digest the content. ICND1 and ICND2 aren’t easy, but they do allow less experienced students an option to learn at a pace more suited to their skill set. So if you’re intimidated by the pace of the Boot Camp, or simply don’t have the experience, the traditional path is a proven option.
What will you learn?
CCNABC/CCNAX is a composite course, derived from ICND1 and ICND2 with the content being merged into a single accelerated course. Overlapping content is eliminated and content rearranged to aid course flow.
Students will learn how to install, operate, configure, and troubleshoot basic IPv4 and IPv6 networks, including configuring a LAN switch, configuring an IP router, identifying basic security threats, understanding redundant topologies, troubleshooting common network issues, connecting to a WAN, configuring EIGRP and OSPF in both IPv4 and IPv6, understanding wide-area network technologies, and getting familiar with device management and Cisco licensing.
This course will enable you to:
- Prepare for the CCNA Routing and Switching certification
- Operate a medium-sized LAN with multiple switches, supporting VLANs, trunking and spanning tree
- Understand the interactions and network functions of firewalls, wireless controllers and access points
- Develop core routing and switching networking skills to configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Cisco networks
- Understand QoS, virtualization, cloud services, and network programmability related to WAN, access and core segments
- Support Cisco network deployments and maintain an ongoing operational network
Who should attend the CCNAX/CCNABC Boot Camp?
The Boot Camp is perfect for experienced network administrators, engineers, and designers interested in understanding and managing Cisco network deployments. It is excellent preparation for the CCNA Routing and Switching certification exam.
As an accelerated course, students need to be ready for a lot of information and long days. If you don’t have substantial network experience, you will struggle with this course. The traditional path, ICND1 and ICND2, is a great option for moderately experienced students.
Students are expected to have at least one year of networking experience and a firm understanding of IPv4 and IPv6 networks, a basic knowledge of network subnetting and IP routing, and a working knowledge of the OSI and TCP/IP models.
Get certified!
CCNAX/CCNABC will prepare you for the CCNA Routing and Switching exam (200-125 CCNA). Just like the Boot Camp, the exam is accelerated and fulfills your CCNA Routing and Switching requirement with a single exam. Note, the traditional learning path requires two courses (ICND1 and ICND2) and two exams (100-105 ICND1 and 200-105 ICND2) to qualify for the CCNA Routing and Switching certification.
Next steps
Once you successfully complete CCNAX/CCNABC, pass the associated certification exam and achieve the CCNA Routing and Switching certification, you are ready to apply what you’ve learned. Your training, along with your experience, positions you to implement, administer, and manage medium and large enterprise networks.
The Cisco Certified Network Associate Certification for Routing and Switching opens up many options, however should you wish to stay focused on routing and switching then the CCNP Routing and Switching certification would be your next challenge. The CCNP certification lists the CCNA certification as a prerequisite and requires three courses to prepare for the three exams—ROUTE, SWITCH, and TSHOOT. The CCNP certification will position you for advanced networking roles focused on complex network solutions.
