Start your Cisco Career Journey with an ICND1 Training
- Date: 22 January, 2019
A network consists of many different technologies but routing and switching still sits at the heart of any network. The Cisco ICND1 – Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 course is the perfect class for anyone looking to kick start their Cisco career.
Passing the ICND1 exam will also reward you with the entry level Certification CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician), required for anyone looking to achieve a Cisco associate level certification in Routing and Switching, Wireless, Security, Design or Industrial.
Whilst ICND1 may not be specified as a requirement for all of the other CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certifications the knowledge obtained from attending the course provides a level of introductory knowledge that acts as a foundation on which to build your Cisco career.
What will you learn?
ICND1 provides a foundational understanding of core Cisco routing and switching technologies and other advanced networking solutions. You will learn to install, operate, configure and verify a basic IPv4 and IPv6 network including configuring a LAN switch, configuring an IP router, managing network devices, and identifying basic security threats. The goal of this training is to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to install, configure, and operate a small- to medium-sized network.
This course will enable you to:
- Prepare for the entry-level CCENT certification.
- Obtain a foundational understanding of core routing and switching technologies.
- Understand the interactions and network functions of firewalls, controllers and access points.
- Support Cisco network deployments and maintain an ongoing operational network.
Who should attend ICND1?
The primary focus of the ICND1 course is to prepare network engineers and administrators to understand and manage Cisco network deployments. ICND1 is the ideal starting point for most networking based job roles including administrators, engineers, designers, analysts and specialists.
How will ICND1 impact your job and career?
As the stepping stone to every Cisco technology track, ICND1 will deliver a highly transferrable skill set. By understanding the inner workings of a Cisco network, you will be prepared to successfully deploy and manage Cisco networking technologies and services, you will be ready to branch out to related technology areas like wireless networking or network design, and you will be ready to acquire skills in tangential technology areas like cloud, collaboration, or data center.
Most importantly, with a foundational understanding of Cisco networking technologies you will be poised to contribute with emerging Cisco technologies like software-defined networking, programmable networks, and intent-based networks.
Get certified!
Once you complete the ICND1 course, you will be ready to take the CCENT certification exam and validate your foundational understanding of Cisco networking technologies.
Students who already know that they want to obtain a CCNA in Routing and Switching may want to consider taking the accelerated path and attend the CCNA Boot Camp (CCNABC), acquiring the knowledge and skills of ICND1 and ICND2 in an one-week, concentrated, exam preparation course.
Next Steps
The CCENT certification is required for Routing & Switching, Security, Wireless, Network Design and Industrial networking. In order to obtain any of these certifications you will need to pass an additional exam.
