Emerging Technologies Training Courses

Technology is evolving so fast that spotting the ‘next big thing’ if you’re trying to decide where, when and what to invest in, can sometimes feel overwhelming.

First, ask yourself some tough questions about whether your innovation strategy and process is really good enough. At Global Knowledge, we have spoken to many companies who don’t have an emerging technology strategy at all and are therefore not monitoring them as a result. We can help you discover what emerging technologies are available, how you can make the most of them, what impact they will have on your legacy technology and how you can remain agile and effective.

Here are just some emerging technologies that are changing the world:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) – AI is also known as machine intelligence. It is an area of computer science that emphasizes the creation of intelligent machines that work and react like humans, such as speech recognition and problem solving.
  • Big Data – big data usually includes data sets with sizes beyond the ability of commonly used software tools to capture, curate, manage and process data with a tolerable elapsed time. Ever-increasing volumes of data and new data-generation sources like IoT, along with the growing use of AI and machine learning and the need to manage and analyse data, are just some key drivers behind the continuing evolution of big data technology.

  • Blockchain – can be described as a decentralised system or distributed ledger, where a network of decentralised devices or nodes each hold a copy of all the data in a chain. Simply put, it is a secure, continuously updated record of who owns what.

  • Internet of Things (IoT) – IoT is the extension of Internet connectivity into physical devices and everyday objects. Embedded with electronics, internet connectivity and other forms of hardware, these devices can communicate and interact with others over the internet, whilst also being remotely monitored and controlled.

Global Knowledge also offers courses in the following areas:

  • Business Intelligence (BI)  - BI, reporting, dashboards, analytics and virtualization are just some terms in the descriptive analytics world. While there is a lot of buzz around the ever-growing data, what matters at the end of the day is how can organisations separate the relevant information and derive actionable insights. This is where the role of analytics becomes even more important. Business analytics is increasingly becoming a vital driving force in organisational decision   making. Creating easy to understand and quickly accessible reports for decision makers is a critical functionality needed in data analytics tools.

  • Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) – The main difference between the two is that VR takes over your vision to give you the impression that you’re somewhere else. The headset replaces your outside world with a virtual one. Whereas AR adds to it. It lets you see everything in front of you as if you are wearing sunglasses. The technology is designed for completely free movement while projecting images over whatever you look at. The concept extends to smartphones with AR apps, which use your phone’s camera to track your surroundings and overlay additional information on top of it, on the screen.

  • Digital Twins – digital twins are virtual replicas of physical devices that data scientists and IT pros can use to run simulations before actual devices are built and deployed. They are also changing how technologies such as IoT, AI and analytics are optimised for peak efficiency and create ‘what if’ scenarios.
