Important change to the VMware recertification programme
- Date: 13 February, 2026
Earning and maintaining your VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) certification is now simpler than ever. To earn or renew a certification, you only need to pass the relevant exam. Recent enhancements to the VMware Certification Program make it more accessible, flexible, and valuable, helping you validate your expertise and showcase up-to-date skills.
Why the change to the VMware recertification programme?
In today’s fast-paced technology landscape, expertise is essential. To ensure your certification accurately reflects your skills and aligns with current industry standards, VMware has updated its certification policy. VMware Cloud Foundation certifications now include an expiration date and a 36-month renewal cycle, keeping your credential current and relevant.
Key changes:
- Upgrade paths: There are no current established upgrade paths via training. Information regarding certification renewal will be provided before your existing credentials expire.
- No year-based titles: Certification titles no longer include the year. Instead, the certification is linked to the specific exam passed and the certification date.
- Training and badges: Earning a certification badge requires successfully passing the relevant exam; completing training alone is not sufficient. The 36-month renewal policy is exclusive to VMware Cloud Foundation certifications.
